lucky draw, found you

Writer's picture: Kushi KumarKushi Kumar

my favorite piece of trivia, fourth sunday of march

sweet in my blue cup, coffee in yours

wended our way home, lilies in hand

messed up chasing perfect, reluctantly rejected

patiently waited, silently wondered

"is it a mistake I committed?"

two moon dances later, you

poured whiskey and toasted to hope

said second time's a charm on twenty fourth

here's a gift of tercet for you, as you

silently traced each flicker of vein in my gaze

took two days, and I slept in your arms safe

golden crusts and frosted cream

as you kissed me soft to ed's tune

and let my storm rage unseen, was out of it before I knew

lost the game but I conquered

you with your honeyed words

and big brown doe eyes

tay talk on the radio says we're

about to have ourselves a little night

metrical translations of your hand in mine

each tremor bloomed a floral frenzy within

you can't jinx gold, we're twins in sync

it's our plot twist, we've rewritten the script

swiped my fingers through fate

lucky draw, found you
