In the Wait, In the Want

Writer: Kushi KumarKushi Kumar
blue carriage rolls, her crown in place
history repeats, another lost race
she leaned in while wondering if he really was the one
why do hearts change once the chase is done?
august’s charm puts her heart in doubt
he’s distant when she needs him around
is this the boy she met, or a role he cast
did he change to fit, or was she blind in the past?
few moons ago, he’d move mountains with grace

now their talks are mere updates

unsure of tomorrow, is it time to flee?
chasing a feeling that’s now hard to see
it's the phase of sleepless nights and struggles untold
I place my bets, she'll stumble - her path's uncontrolled
moments stolen on borrowed time
a brief escape, as she crossed the line
this one says he's not ready, but still, waits
not choosing her now, leaving it to fate
she deserves this, she’s made it through
but wonders what her heart will choose
should she trust the spark that was at first
or embrace this change, quench her thirst
she’s promised herself to build anew
but hides the mess from the one who knew
